The ZUTenzo is my original hat design – a relaxed, slightly slouchy shape inspired by the classic newsboy cap and beret. Made from a wonderful hairy designer tweed, this hat has a tactile, irregular texture that makes every piece feel special.

The understated grey and black colour combination makes it surprisingly easy to wear, while the unusual texture gives it plenty of personality.

THE FABRIC

The outer fabric is a beautiful pure wool designer dead-stock tweed sourced in Paris.

The grey and black fibres create a softly mottled, melange appearance, while the hairy surface gives the fabric its distinctive depth and character.

I particularly love working with dead-stock fabrics because they are beautiful fabrics that might otherwise never be used. It also means that once this particular cloth is gone, I may not be able to make exactly the same hat again.

COMFORT & CONSTRUCTION

The ZUTenzo is fully lined and designed to sit comfortably on the head.

Its generous shape provides good coverage around the ears, making it a lovely choice for cooler autumn and winter days.

The seams are carefully finished and topstitched, adding definition to the shape while giving the hat the handmade character I love.

HOW TO WEAR IT

This is an easy hat to make your own.
