A beautifully textured grey and black wool tweed beret, handmade to order in France from a distinctive designer dead-stock fabric sourced in Paris.

The ZUTtam is my original slouchy tam design. Relaxed and slightly generous in shape, it has the easy, effortless character of a classic beret while giving you a little more volume and presence.

The unusual hairy surface of this tweed gives the beret wonderful depth and texture. The grey and black melange is understated enough to wear every day, but the fabric has enough character to make the hat feel special.

THE FABRIC

The outer fabric is a beautiful pure wool designer dead-stock tweed sourced in Paris.

Grey and black fibres are blended together to create a softly mottled, melange appearance, with a distinctive hairy surface that makes the fabric wonderfully tactile.

I love working with dead-stock fabrics because they give beautiful, existing textiles another life. They are also limited by nature, so when this particular fabric is gone, I may not be able to reproduce exactly the same beret.

Every ZUTtam is made individually rather than mass produced.

The ZUTtam is fully lined for comfort and has a relaxed, slouchy silhouette.

Its generous shape gives you the freedom to wear it in different ways – pulled slightly to one side for a classic beret look, or worn more centrally for a softer, fuller silhouette.

The wool tweed makes it a lovely choice for autumn and winter, while the neutral grey and black colouring works effortlessly with a wide range of clothing.

HOW TO WEAR YOUR ZUTTAM

The ZUTtam is designed to be easy to wear and easy to make your own.

Wear it with a tailored wool coat for a classic, sophisticated winter look, or with jeans and a jacket for something more relaxed.

The monochrome grey and black tweed works particularly well with black, charcoal, navy, denim and natural tones.

You can also experiment with the way you position the tam to create a more traditional beret shape or a softer, more relaxed silhouette.
